The Pinewood Derby is all set to take place on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. Official registration and inspection will open at 10 am, and end PROMPTLY at 11:45. The races will begin after the opening ceremony at noon. More information will follow via email to registered scouts.
Before you get started building the Pinewood Derby car with your Scout, take a moment to review the 2015 Blackhawk Area Council Pinewood Derby Car Regulations by clicking here. Cars not following the official rules will not be allowed to race. Pinewood Derby trials and pre-inspection will take place at the January 27, 2015 Pack meeting. Siblings, parents and anyone else interested in building and racing an "outlaw" car are welcome to participate at the Pinewood Derby (width, length and height restrictions apply to ensure the cars fit on the track).
Please join us for the February Pack meeting, the Blue and Gold Banquet, Sunday February 22, 2015 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church. The Blue and Gold Banquet is one of the highlights of the year. It brings families together for an evening of fun, cheer, songs, and corny, um, endearing skits. Invite the family to help celebrate the pack's anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack go, celebrate our Scouts and parents and honor those scouts that have completed their Arrow of Light. Please look for an invitation soon. This year's theme is "Building Memories through Scouting". There is a nominal fee for this event.
The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting's Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 is designated as Scout Sunday. Wear your uniform to church and receive a special patch for your brag vest.
Pack 311 will be having a "Night at the Museum" experience when they attend the Dozin' with the Dinos at the Field Museum on March 6th, 2015. This event is open to the whole family so brothers and sisters (ages 6 to 12) are invited to come out with the Scouts for this event. The cost is $55 per person. Your deposit of $25.00 to reserve your space is due at the November 25th Pack meeting. The remaining balance of $30.00 will be due by the January 27th Pack meeting.
